Did you know that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN as well as the 50th anniversary of the first action dedicated to the Earth Day, which is annually celebrated on April 22? In honor of this significant dates, Narxoz University invites 3-4 year students of Almaty to participate in a competition on the theme: “Implementation of the sustainable development strategy in the Republic of Kazakhstan: challenges and opportunities”, where each team consisting of at least 2 undergraduate students will be able to write and defend their strategy to popularize one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in Kazakhstan. As part of the competition, students will have to go through the following steps: 1) Registration of teams until 6:00 p.m., April 17 and assigning sustainable development goals to each team by random distribution; 2) Familiarization with basic information using, but not limited to, resources indicated in Appendix No. 1. Participation format: • Developing and defending the strategy: each team needs to develop a strategy to promote the assigned sustainable development goal in Kazakhstan and defend it before the competition committee in the format of online presentations; • Preparation of a promotional video: each team needs to make a short promotional video lasting no more than 1-2 minutes, which will tell about their SDGs. The promotional video should be accompanied by an audio track and infographics regarding the SDG of the team. Each team member will have to upload this video to his personal Instagram account and tag the pages of Narxoz University (@narxozkz, @narxoz_admission, @ sste.narxoz), as well as add the following hashtags to the post description: #Narxoz_SDGs, #UN_Almaty #UN_SDGs, #sste.narxoz, #Narxoz_masters, #narxoz_admission. Important: students do not need to go outside and conduct live shooting. All videos must be made online. Terms of participation: send the full text, a presentation of the strategy, as well as a video and screenshots of posts on Instagram to aibar.sharipov@narxoz.kz with the following title: “SDG-Competition” in any convenient language (Kazakh/Russian/English) no later than 23:59 on 30 April 2020. Students who take winning places will receive valuable prizes from Narxoz University. All students will receive certificates of participation.
