The meeting took place within the framework of the transformation of the university carried out since 2018. As the Rector of the University noted, Andrew Wachtel (American scientist, Ph.D., professor, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, full member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences) Narxoz intends to become a hub of talents and introduces the practice of the best universities in the world. The university administration purposefully improves the quality of educational programs by attracting highly qualified teachers with foreign education and practical experience. Particular attention was paid to the process of Narxoz's transition to the format of an educational and research center for social sciences in the Eurasian space. At the end of 2019, the university has partnership agreements with 60 universities from 21 countries of the world.
In addition to updating academic programs and bringing them in line with modern challenges, it is planned to modernize the university's infrastructure. In February 2020, the reconstruction of the main academic building of the University will begin with completion in 2022. The new campus will respond to the latest educational trends and create a creative learning environment for students.
As the general director of the Verny Capital group of companies Yerlan Ospanov noted: “We are systematically developing Narxoz University in order to bring it to the world level and to the leaders of the region. This is an ambitious and large-scale task and we clearly understand what needs to be done for this. We recognize that the journey can be long and difficult. Therefore, we consider it important to involve in the development and training of the young generation, successful Kazakhstanis who have reached heights in various spheres of life. We are currently forming a board of trustees, attracting the best academic minds and actively interacting with partners in the public and private sectors in order to make Narxoz competitive at the international level. "
A specially invited guest of the event is a social entrepreneur and venture philanthropist, one of the founders of the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management, co-founder of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative Ruben Vardanyan.
The topic of his speech was "Migration to the Future". His projects are aimed at shaping a better future for new generations, international initiatives that focus on education, social development and support for talents.
Ruben Vardanyan noted that the initiatives being implemented at Narxoz are consonant with the global sentiment to improve human capital, which is an essential asset for the successful development of the state.
