Narxoz in the ranking of the most environmentally friendly universities in the world
This list includes universities that have distinguished themselves in implementing policies to reduce the use of paper and plastic on campus, rational use of energy and water resources, and use of transport on the territory of the university.
At the beginning of the academic year, students of Narxoz were invited to participate in a special photo-quest. They shared photos of places that they thought determine how eco-friendly their alma mater is. Many applications came to the competition, among which the most active participants were identified - Arystan Baltabay and Guzal Tokhtakhunova. The winners received a hoodie with an updated design from the Narxoz brand.
Most of the photos were used for Narxoz's participation in the UI Greenmetrics ranking of green universities.
Our university previously participated in this rating, taking 583 place out of 780 in 2017. This time, we tried to improve our position by conserving water, reducing parking space, installing energy-efficient devices, integrating the study of sustainable development goals (SDGs) into our curricula and conducting activities to contribute to the implementation of the SDGs.
In 2019, 780 universities from 83 countries of the world, including Kazakhstan, took part in the ranking. Narxoz took 542 place, having achieved good indicators in the availability of transport communications and the adaptation of educational programs.
We have risen in the ranking and are motivated to continue working on the ecology of the campus and the content of educational programs at Narxoz. A sustainable development strategy will soon be presented, which will tell you about further plans to be more eco-friendly.
