Narxoz changes realities. Harvard University alumni share their experiences with students

On the eve of the new academic year, graduates from Harvard, the oldest university in the United States, visited Narxoz University on August 25. The trip of their group to Kazakhstan has a peculiar history.

As you know, representatives of different countries study at Harvard University. And in the student fraternity there is a long and respectful tradition - to invite classmates to visit their homeland. Guided by this, the track was initiated by the graduates of the School of Management. JF Kennedy Adilbek Primbetov and Tilek Zeynullaev. They are the founders of Central Asian CAUCUS, an association of Harvard students from Central Asia.

For organizers, this is an opportunity to introduce the country to their fellow students, and for guests to get acquainted with the political and economic situation, as well as immerse themselves in the cultural peculiarities of our country. In addition, they expressed a desire to meet with students and graduates of Kazakhstani universities. Their choice fell on the Narxoz University, where in recent years the process of transformation into a modern competitive university of international level is being implemented.

The meeting was organized by the Rector of the University, Professor Andrew Wachtel, who himself graduated from Harvard College in 1981. In his welcoming speech, Andrew expressed hope that Narxoz will continue to adopt the experience and high educational standards of Harvard, and that bilateral relations between universities will only develop.

It is worth noting that Victoria Tsai, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and International Affairs, is also a Harvard University graduate.

The meeting was attended by over 40 students, half of whom have just entered the first year. In turn, Harvard's undergraduates of the specialty "State and local government" spoke about how and how the study is going at the most prestigious university in the world and the possibilities of comprehensive development. One of the members of the delegation, Natalie Kostic, shared her impressions:

“I was very pleased with the spirit of the students. They want to improve their skills, and studying at the world's leading universities is a good opportunity for this. I hope we were able to give them a boost of motivation. "

Alibek Nurbekov, who is the Director of Islamic Finance and Hub at the AIFC, and Gaukhar Dosova, who is a co-owner of the friendly Tours travel company, also attended the meeting. Soon, Gaukhar and Alibek will begin their studies under the Harvard Master's program.

A delegation of 16 people has already visited the city of Nur-Sultan. It is worth noting that the duration of the track will be 10 days and following the results of the trip, the TV and Radio Complex under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will prepare a documentary film. As the organizers admit, familiarization of the future world political and economic elite with Kazakhstan will contribute to the formation of a positive image of the country in the long term.
